I like a moody photograph. When it dips in the shadows, when it’s not so bright and crisp. I feel like it captures a moment of stillness, a mood.

A large part of what I do as an artist and as a stylist has to do with exercising looking at things, and seeing objects with my discerning eye. The artist and the photographer have something in common, in that what they pay attention to is light. Just like the artist Giorgio Morandi looked at the shape of object groupings, I like to use a dim light to see what my mixture of objects can reveal about the shape of how we live.

I look for objects that will continue to feel one-of-a-kind, rich in texture, and made with quality. I find that surrounding myself with those elements allow me to keep discovering them again and again, and I never tire of them.
