Texture

Texture evokes so much. I find that by bringing in a tactile element to the foreground, it makes us more conscious of the space we live in. With a textural background, anything placed in front becomes a sculptural object, even the mundane book or piece of rock. By framing texture, I find myself engaging in a heightened act of looking, so to speak. The entire space becomes considered, and all objects within become evaluated too.

With every background I create, my intention is to evoke a unique world that grounds the object, while allowing the objects to take centerstage.

Beyond providing a beautiful background and a tactile dimension, I love including texture on my art and styling. Texture brings a sense of the passage of time, contextualizing the use of objects that become shrouded in legacy. More than just looking, texture invokes an emotional response that engages our senses and our memory.
